Children’s Day celebrations with a difference

Under the Transform Lives one school at a time project, schoolchildren from Indragarh school in Alwar, Rajasthan, organized a voter awareness rally to mark Children's Day on November 14, 2018. In addition, they set up a kitchen garden in the school as their project for igniting innovation. So far, the students have grown spinach in one of the gardens and are planning to grow more vegetables. You can also support a Transform lives project. 

A visit that inspired!

Friends of Sehgal Foundation, Susen and Jim Berg from the United States, brought inspiration to their visit to Sehgal Foundation in India in September 2018. Susen Berg described her feelings, “I was so touched by meeting the schoolchildren. New project in Bihar
Sehgal Foundation started a new project in Sitamarhi district, Bihar, with support from Power Finance Corporation, a subsidiary of Ministry of Power, Government of India. The project launched on October 27, 2018, with the participation of top officers of Ministry of Power namely, GM and CSR head, Joint Secretary and District Collector. The foundation team has previously worked on a governance project supported by the Power Trading Corporation Foundation, GoI, in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. 

Training workshops for WASH practitioners
The role of the Community WASH promoters is important for the successful implementation of any water, sanitation, or hygiene (WASH) initiative.  Sehgal Foundation and CAWST collaborated to co-deliver two trainings on the topics Delivering Effective WASH Training, November 13–17, 2018 and Training Workshop on Community WASH Promotion, November 27–30, 2018.

2018 International Impact Award
Jay Sehgal and Sehgal Foundation received the 2018 International Impact Award for their leadership in support of their community-based development activities, educational access, and the empowerment of women, particularly in rural India. The award was presented by University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld. The award also recognizes the foundation’s multi-year partnership with the University of Iowa’s award-winning India Winterim program and the valuable work done as a result of this collaboration with University of Iowa students who have been part of their study abroad program. 

Governance work attracts government officials and villagers 
Officers from Ministry of Finance, Defence, Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Telecommunication, and professors of Management Development Institute, Gurugram, led by Sh. Sudhir Pratap Singh (IPS) Ex DG–NSG, visited the Citizen Information and Support Center in Nuh and observed the Village Leadership School session in Rawli village.
A legal literacy camp organized in village Padeni in partnership with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) attracted 1,200 villagers. Mr A K Singal, District and Session Judge, Nuh, and other officers addressed the camp.
