 Introducing Engender Technologies

Engender is a New Zealand company that has developed a proprietary process to separate bull sperm cells by sex, enabling cattle farmers to choose the gender of offspring.

Engender uses photonics and microfluidic chips to sort sperm. Its process is expected to be low cost, have minimal impact on fertility and achieve increased sperm count retention compared to the only existing technology. Gender sorting will accelerate genetic gain and improve cost efficiencies in large animal reproduction. The company’s initial target market is the dairy industry, but it expects its technology can be applied to other markets.

Engender has confirmed its technology’s ability to achieve enrichment of X-chromosome bearing (female producing) sperm cells. The Company recently learned that its key patent was allowed in the US and Australia.

 Introducing Project Karkinos

"A Revolutionary New Concept for Treating Cancer"

Project Karkinos is a US biopharma company that has developed a family of nanomedicine drugs, which destroy blood vessels in solid tumours (up to 85% of all cancers).

Project Karkinos’ lead drug is a gold bound tumour necrosis factor which breaks apart blood vessels and enables chemotherapeutics to penetrate and kill cancer cells  The lead drug has successfully completed human Phase 1 Safety studies.

The lead drug’s action of perforating tumour blood vessels and reducing tumour pressure may make existing cancer therapies safer and more effective, by allowing for the increased concentration of cancer drugs into a tumour.
