2018 World Cities Day: inclusivity and non-discrimination should be at the heart of urban public policies
On the occasion of the 2018 World Cities Day under the theme “Building sustainable and resilient cities”, UNESCO organised with the support of Efus a conference to highlight the key role played by cities in promoting social inclusion and diversity, on 31 October in Paris. On the occasion of this conference, Efus also organised the first meeting of its newly-created “Just & Safer Cities for All” working group on the prevention of discriminatory violence. ...

The MEDI@4SEC's workshop on “The future of data: the case of urban security” will be held on 7 December in Paris
The two-and-a-half year-long Medi@4sec project on the role and impact of social media on security, in which Efus is a partner, will end in December with a closing event on “The future of data: the case of urban security”, organised by Efus on 7 December in Paris. This will also be the launch of Efus' new working group on “Innovation and Security”, which will follow up on the work started with the project and broaden reflections further. ...

Drugs: the Solidify project witnesses first-hand The Hague’s pioneering approach
What are the specificities of the Dutch drug policy? What services does the city of The Hague provide for drug users to reduce harms related to traffic and consumption of illicit drugs? How does the policy of tolerating recreational uses of soft drugs such as cannabis play out in terms of urban security? Radicalisation and PREPARE project: working session between Vilvoorde and Exit Sweden/Fryshuset
As part of the PREPARE European project on the prevention of radicalisation in prison and in probation, Efus took part in a two-day meeting between representatives of the city of Vilvoorde, in Belgium, and the organisation Exit Sweden/Fryshuset, on 18-19 October in Stockholm. Whereas Vilvoorde is primarily concerned by religious-based extremism, Exit Sweden, which works jointly with the Swedish youth organisation Fryshuset, focuses on right-wing extremism and helps individuals move away from such ideology. ...

The European Commission has launched a call for projects on the topic "Supporting Initiatives in the Field of Drugs Policy".
