Emmy Win for Equine Reporting

Congratulations to George Knapp for receiving an Emmy this year, for investigative journalism over the Havasupai Falls, Grand Canyon, equine abuse scandals, which continue to gain national attention.

"Havasu Canyon, which is on the edge of Grand Canyon National Park, is one of the most beautiful places in the world, but it is also home to an ugly secret. For decades, pack animals owned by members of the Havasupai Tribe have been subjected to horrific abuse."

Sponsor Big Ben!

Ben is one of our older draft horses. A favorite of many, he's gentle, quiet, and loves a good scratching. But in addition to his age, we believe he has suffered a stroke (possibly several mini-strokes), and, as a result, he tends to zone out, wander in eccentric patterns, and is quite sensitive to heat. Because of his delicate constitution, we prepare special meals for him, and other sundry accommodations, and have installed a mister in his stable, which keeps him cooler on exhausting summer days.

Given the detailed level of care we provide for Ben, sponsorships are an excellent way for donors to help us sustain this quality level of stewardship and accommodation.

Will you consider sponsoring Ben? For more information about him, please contact the us at info@equinevoices.org, or by calling 520-398-2814.

Just for Laughs and Giggles

A Horse Named Jim

by Cody Hedges

There once was a horse named Jim,

Who ate not apples but stems,

They'd get caught in his teeth

Like a Christmas wreath,

When he smiled, they blew in the wind.
