In the aftermath of the Cambridge Analytica revelations, important questions about the impact of data on democracy arise. Join swissnex Boston and the University of Zurich for an evening event addressing Digital Democracy. The event will be headlined by Prof. Fabrizio Gilardi, founder of the Digital Democracy Lab in Switzerland, newly established under the University of Zurich’s Digital Society Initiative. He’ll present some initial insights gathered by the lab, along with his analysis of how these shifts are changing the landscape of democracy. After he’ll lead a discussion featuring local panelists, representing both American and European perspectives. Register here.

  • Artistic Research Salon III -  The third edition of ARS (Artistic Research Salon) on March 27 featured artist Florian Dombois as our special guest. Dombois focuses on time, landforms, labilities, seismic and tectonic activity, as well as on their various representational and media formats. He shared some of his insight on the topic of artistic research, and talked about his project Galleria del Vento at the Research Pavilion in Venice. ARS dinners are organized with the TransCultural Exchange, concepted to offer a platform for discussion on perspectives and vision of artistic research with a selected crowd. Artistic Research is currently a very hot topic in Switzerland and the Boston area since it helps codify the arts to the Bologna Agreement and the academic ecosystem.
  • Swiss presence at SXSW - Switzerland has long been a leader in design, engineering, and social policy, and the country’s strong presence at this year’s SXSW exemplifies its strong role in the modern technological renaissance. As a major step in the ongoing Swiss Touch campaign, Swiss entities presented some of the most awe-inducing projects and ideas at the festival, proving that Switzerland is a major force in emerging technologies.
