We are excited to announce the introduction of QSC Feature Licenses for the Q-SYS Platform that will give customers the option to enable certain Q-SYS functionalities by purchasing and deploying perpetual, node-locked software licenses to any new Q-SYS Core 110f or Core 510i processor.

   The first phase of feature licenses will focus on control functionality for Q-SYS, including deploying Q-SYS User Control Interfaces (UCIs), plugins and custom scripting (Q-SYS Scripting Engine), and has been implemented with the new release of Q-SYS Designer Software v7.0, available now.

   Why do this and what is the benefit? While traditional AV systems typically use separate control and audio DSP processors per room, Q-SYS is a software-based platform that has consolidated these functions in to a single solution. The cost of a Q-SYS solution including the costs of the feature licenses is less than the total cost of a traditional audio DSP plus a traditional control processor. In order to continue to build on this software platform and grow the features and functions, they will require the support of these licenses. The typical IT customer is already very familiar with licensing features for large parts of their IT infrastructure, so this change shouldn’t be a vast leap for most of them.
