New Family Activity at Exporail : Rail Smart Rally

SAINT-CONSTANT, April 25th, 2018 – Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum is offering a new activity for families with children aged 8 to 12 years old, as well as for groups, schools and day camps. Created in the same spirit as the exhibition on railway safety Stop, Look, Listen: Incoming Train? The purpose of this activity is to raise awareness and inform the general public about safety around railways.

With the help of an exploratory notebook, which is available at the reception desk (included in the admission price), visitors cross the six stages of the rally by moving throughout the museum. They detect hazards, discover safety features on railway vehicles, locate crossing markings, identify dangerous behaviors, and learn safety practices in an entertaining and safe environment. They also better understand the reality experienced by train operators dealing with incidents on the railways.

With a lot of railroad tracks, moving rail vehicles and more than 60,000 visitors per year, Exporail is the perfect place to educate the public to adopt safe behavior around railways.

Activity Book for the Family Extract : « You must find an object that is seen next to level crossings. This objet tells you that it is permitted to cross the tracks at this point. »

This project has been realized with the financial support of Transport Canada and the Québec Ministry of Culture and Communications and with the collaboration of Operation Lifesaver.
