Olympic Medal to Mother India!

Hello Everyone, 

That is Siril Varma...! One of India's best kept secret... A young man from our community, an ace badminton player aiming for an Olympic medal! Just seventeen years old, he has achieved the distinction of being ranked "World Number One Junior under 19" at the young age of 15. Although a junior, he is currently playing seniors only, and has been rapidly rising in world senior rankings from 200 last year to currently being listed as one of the world's top 100 players, with a current ranking of 85. 

We tried to bring him to our 2016 Kshatriya Convention as one of our guests and an inspiration to our youth, but we could not obtain a visa date on time. 

Siril has been constantly participating in tournaments all over the world and striving hard to up his rankings to top 20 in the next year or so, and finally play at the 2020 and the following Olympic Games, and hopefully win a medal for India. India has only one individual gold in the olympics until now. Here is our chance to help this young man accomplish his goal for himself, and India. 

Siril comes from a very modest background and his family has been working against all odds to help him through his game and achieve his goals. Although being coached at the famed Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad by the man himself, and practicing with none other than the likes of Sindhu and Srikanth; Siril has not received the recognition he deserves. 

We, as a community hope to do our best to help him. First and foremost, we would like all of you to please check Siril online and on facebook. Please befriend him (especially our youth) and encourage him to do his best. Secondly, we have decided to set up a crowd funding initiative to help him financially. We encourage all to donate to the fund in your capacity. We hope to collect matching funds from companies and the Kshatriya Association in India. Our goal is to collect as much as we can this year, and continue to do the same each year based on his game and growth until his goal is accomplished. Siril has to incur all travel, lodging and training expenses for his tournaments all over the world. We hope the amount we collect will at least cover part of his expenses. We believe he just needs that initial push and support until the country realizes the potential in him, and offers of support will hopefully pour in from individuals, companies, and the government. 

Let us be his support framework now, and later just bask in the glory of watching him grow to be the pride of our community and our country, especially in the field of sports that we so rarely get a chance to see. Here are a few links. Watch him in action..
